With an uncertain ownership status at the time, the Denver Broncos missed the deadline to make big uniform changes ahead of the 2022 season. But the team might make some adjustments before the 2023 (or perhaps more realistically, the 2024) season.
At some point in the future, it seems safe to assume the team’s new ownership group will make some changes. Whether the changes include a completely refreshed uniform or just a new true throwback alternate remains to be seen.
In the meantime, fans have been creating some brilliant pitches.
Freelance graphic designer Kyle Gifford created created a mockup uniform concept design for the Broncos complete with home, road, alternate and throwback uniforms.
While some fans have campaigned for a return to the old “D” logo, Gifford proposes reserving the throwback as an alternate, and his reasoning makes a compelling case.
“Bringing this uniform and helmet back as a throwback option, rather than reverting the entire uniform back to this look permanently, allows for this classic jersey and helmet to be celebrated independently and on occasion,” Gifford wrote on his website. “Making the opportunity to wear the jersey even more meaningful for the players and fans of the team.”
