Notre Dame athletic director [autotag]Pete Bevacqua[/autotag] spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon, and while there was much to get out of his press conference, there was one very interesting tidbit that he shared.
There is an obsession inside the program, or as Bevacqua put it they are “maniacally obsessed” with bring home a championship back to South Bend as reported by multiple outlets. As we all know, the last title the Irish won was in 1988, a drought that is extremely long for one of the most storied college football programs across the nation.
Not only that, Bevacqua is committed to making sure that assistants stay with the program, noting that they will continue to play them well so that they don’t leave for opportunities elsewhere.
You have to love the commitment that the Irish’s new athletic director has for the football program, as he, along with many of us as well, see that head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] is taking them in the right direction.
Hopefully this breakthrough happens soon, potentially as soon as this coming January.
