Between injuries and inconsistent play, there aren’t many NFL experts picking the New Orleans Saints over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. According to surveying conducted by NFL Pickwatch, just 30% of the football cognoscenti like the Saints to pull off a midweek road win in Arizona. A staggering 70% majority is coming in for the Cardinals. It reflects the odds at Tipico Sportsbook, where New Orleans is a 2.5-point underdog.
But, come on. The Cardinals have the same 2-4 record as the Saints. They’re going to be without their starting center and left guard, as well as their leading receiver Marquise Brown. All of their hopes hinge on DeAndre Hopkins returning from a six-week suspension to play like his old self and get their offense back on track. They haven’t done anything well.
There’s plenty of reasons to doubt the Saints this week. They’re missing two of their top three receivers, their left guard, their best cornerback, and several important backups and role players. But if they can just get steady quarterback play and funnel touches to Alvin Kamara, it might be enough against a poor Cardinals defense. We’ll see how it shakes out.
