Well, there we have it. The worst kept secret in sports is officially out. The Washington Football Team is no more. They are now the Washington Commanders.
The team announced its new name bright and early this morning along with a coinciding hype video showing off its new uniforms (and saying the old name more than it actually says the new name.)
We’d known for quite some time this would be the case. There were numerous leaks fans caught on to ahead of time signaling the direction the team was going in.
When they found out the name would be Commanders, they weren’t exactly here for it. And, well, that vibe hasn’t changed at all.
Fans aren’t exactly receiving this well.
