If you’re a Detroit Tigers fan, look away.
This is rough.
Here’s the situation: The Tigers were up 4-3 in the ninth on the Minnesota Twins at Target Field, with men on first and second in the bottom of the ninth and one out. Miguel Sano hit a ball to right field that looked like it was hit right at Robbie Grossman.
And it was … except it hit the outfielder’s glove and skipped to the wall. Not good, but not fatal.
But then things got nuts.
The ball came back to catcher Eric Haase … and runners on first and second took off. Except Trevor Larnach on third HADN’T MOVED. Easy play, right? All Haase has to do is throw the ball to third and get Gio Urshela in a rundown.
But Haase threw it into left field. Two runs scored. Game over.
What did Haase say about it? From MLive.com:
“I grabbed a big ol’ mud ball and just sailed it,” Haase said.
It happens. But what a wild play.
