The Trojans Wired Pac-12 basketball season preview

Let’s preview the Pac-12 basketball season, in which USC has a chance to be very good.

It’s still football season, and the USC-Washington game this Saturday is a big one. However, it’s also the beginning of basketball season, and this time, USC has a chance to do something special in both men’s and women’s hoops. It is — if you combine the men and women — one of the most anticipated seasons in USC basketball history. It’s very, very rare that both the men’s and women’s basketball teams are good in the same season. When the men and women both reached the NCAA Tournament last season, it marked the first time that happened since 1997.

The early 1990s was the last era of USC basketball history in which the men and women had good programs at the same time. In 1985, the men won the Pac-10 championship while the women were in the midst of their great dynastic period under the legendary Cheryl Miller.

Basketball seasons are usually unremakable occasions for USC sports fans, but this season rates as a clear exception.

Let’s dive into basketball season with this Pac-12 men’s basketball preview show. Our guest is Ducks Wire analyst Don Smalley.
