The three other no-brainers who should join Michael Jordan in the next The Match

Tiger and MJ vs. Steph Curry and Justin Thomas. Who wouldn’t watch that!?

This is the online version of our daily newsletter, The Morning WinSubscribe to get irreverent and incisive sports stories, delivered to your mailbox every morning.

Last Sunday’s The Match with Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning beating Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady (and his split pants) was a thing of perfection.

Now I want more of it. And I absolutely, 1000-percently want Michael Jordan included in the next one because would there be anything better than MJ talking smack while competing his butt off and gambling just as hard on each hole?

Plus, Jordan’s popularity right now might be bigger than it ever has been after the success of “The Last Dance.” So many different generations now know how incredible Jordan was on the court and how much he loved to gamble on the golf course, too.

So who should join Jordan in this dream event of mine? That’s easy, too: Tiger Woods, because duh. Then Steph Curry, because also duh. And finally, Justin Thomas, who was the breakout star of Sunday’s event with his broadcasting skills, because he is one of the best players in the world and loves MJ.

I mean, this would be too easy to pull off. The teams would be the young guys – JT and Curry (who is a really good golfer) – versus the old GOATs – Tiger and Jordan.

I mean, come on! Who wouldn’t watch that? Curry and Thomas facing the GOATs in their own sports would be some spectacular television.

I don’t know where Jordan’s golf game is right now, but I gotta think he could rise to the occasion in a showdown like this because rising to the occasion is just something that is in his DNA (minus those days with the Wizards).

Curry’s golf game always seems to be dialed in but I have to think he would feel the same nerves that Manning and Brady felt last Sunday, which would lead to some fun.

Mic these guys up, have Mickelson be the on-course reporter, raise more money for charity, and watch the millions upon millions of viewers tune in.

When could this happen? I have no idea, as golf is set to get back in action in a few weeks, but this idea isn’t about details and whatnot – it’s about wanting more of The Match in. my. life!

Jordan and Tiger vs. Curry and Thomas.

Come on, universe. Make this happen!

Tuesday’s biggest winner: Nike’s Chunky Dunkys

My pal and colleague Mike Sykes is a sneakerhead and he did a great job of explaining why the SNKRS app and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream were both trending on Tuesday. I’m learning the life of a sneakerhead is full of optimism routinely followed by crushing disappointment, which makes me stunned that I’m not one yet. Enough about me, though. Go read Mike’s explainer on these beauties.

Kyle Busch explained why he thinks Chase Elliott is handling NASCAR heartbreak a ‘heck of a lot better’ than he would.

– Damian Lillard doesn’t seem all that interested in playing if the 2019-2020 NBA season returns and I can’t blame him for the way he feels.

Let me introduce you to two of my favorite comedians – Sam Morril and Mark Normand – who have free specials on YouTube right now that are better than anything you’ll see on Netflix.
