The Rock says he won’t run for president, being a father comes first

The Rock is “choosing parenting over presidency” for now.

The only way we’ll be seeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the Oval Office any time soon is if he takes a movie role as the President of the United States.

Johnson was a guest on “CBS Sunday Morning” this weekend and confirmed to Tracy Smith that he had no plans to run for president, at least in 2024. It’s an idea the 50-year-old has spoken about before, while always noting that he felt he had leadership skills but lacked political experience.

His reasoning for not seeking office is simple: Johnson wants to focus on being a father.

“It’s off the table,” Johnson said about a presidential bid. “Yes, it is off the table.

“I will say this, ’cause it requires the B side to this: I love our country and everyone in it. And I also love being a daddy. And that’s the most important thing to me, is being a daddy, number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives.”

Johnson has three daughters: Simone, 21, Jasmine, 6, and Tiana, 4. Simone is following in her dad’s footsteps and is signed to WWE as a developmental talent working under the name Ava Raine.

The idea of Johnson as a political figure appeals to many simply because he would appear to have the type of broad support from people across the political spectrum that is rare in the 2020s. In other words, if anyone can bring a divided country together, couldn’t in be The Rock?

We’ll have to wait to find out. Johnson could, of course, still decide to run for office down the road. For the time being, we’ll have to content ourselves with watching him rule Hollywood and his other ventures and devote himself to being a father, which one would have to agree is serving society just as valuably as being President.
