The Rock confirms ‘Fast and Furious’ return, likely delaying a WWE comeback

The Fast and Furious franchise has gained The Rock back as one of its leading men, but WWE fans might be out of luck hoping for one more match.

For the past 20 years, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been one of Hollywood’s top action stars, appearing in a variety of box office hits. Although his latest movie, “Black Adam,” was unsuccessful, he has largely achieved success in the film industry.

The Rock has also starred in four “Fast and Furious” movies and its spinoff, “Hobbs and Shaw,” as Luke Hobbs, arguably the biggest film franchise he’s been part of to date. Despite this, he had seemingly left this cinematic universe due to a public feud with co-star Vin Diesel.

However, as revealed in a social media video today, The Rock announced his return for not one but two more films in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, one of which is a second “Hobbs and Shaw” movie.

For some wrestling flavor, The Rock also compared his and Jason Momoa’s characters squaring off in the “Fast and Furious” world to him and Stone Cold Steve Austin headlining three WrestleManias.

Fans of The Rock’s movie work are probably delighted to see him in two more movies of this long-running film saga.

Not so much for WWE fans hoping for another match.

Reducing his chances of returning to WWE for another match soon, the 51-year-old’s two big-budget films probably prevent him from wrestling at WrestleMania 40, 41, or any other big event anytime soon. That goes especially for those wanting to see him challenge Roman Reigns while Undisputed WWE Champion.

If his busy schedule allows it, the Rock can make an appearance in WWE programming every now and then, even if only to promote another WWE talent in a promo segment. However, these appearances have become rare over the years.

Therefore, it is best not to expect to see the Rock on WWE programming anytime soon. But, if you want to see him on the big screen, plenty of opportunities will exist in the next few years.
