The Las Vegas Raiders have done pretty well in the draft with Mike Mayock at the helm for the past two years.
But free agency has not been kind. And with a trade reported by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport involving offensive tackle Trent Brown — he’s being sent to the New England Patriots, where he played in 2018 — it’s reminding a lot of people that Mayock has kind of whiffed on the market.
The Raiders paid Brown $36.75 million guaranteed in 2019 and watched him play just 16 total games over two seasons. The Antonio Brown trade debacle also resulted in a contract for the receiver that didn’t work out. Another wideout, Tyrell Williams, had 651 yards and six touchdowns in 2019 with the franchise after signing a contract that included $22 million guaranteed (he was released this offseason). Safety LaMarcus Joyner will reportedly be released after signing in 2019.
Not great.
