The Ravens used a familiar SpongeBob GIF to signal Lamar Jackson’s new contract

The Ravens and Lamar Jackson have finally agreed to terms on a new deal. Bring forth the SpongeBob GIF!

Ohhhhh….Who plays for the Baltimore Ravens and got a new deal? Lamar Jackson!

The Ravens have signed their franchise quarterback to a brand-new contract on Thursday, just hours ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft’s first round.

The deal comes on the heels of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ new contract, which the Ravens reportedly used as a jumping point to amend their offer for Jackson, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The quarterback posted a very sly SpongeBob SquarePants GIF earlier this week that hinted at something good was coming, and the Ravens responded to Thursday’s news with the exact same post.

Now that’s some good synergy!

The team later confirmed that the 5-year contract extension had been agreed to on principle.

The deal is a major one, of course, as it keeps the former MVP in Baltimore for years to come and keeps the Ravens from worrying about the quarterback position in the draft and beyond.

It also ends the long, winding saga of Jackson’s contract situation. Everybody wins, and another major NFL storyline can come to rest.
