The PS5 should be easier to get in 2023, says Sony

The console should be more readily available this year.

Tracking down a PS5 has been quite challenging thus far, but Sony claims the console will be more readily available at retail in 2023.

Isabelle Tomatis, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s vice president of hardware and peripherals, explained on the PlayStation Blog that PS5s should be easier to purchase now.

“To all our fans: thank you for your patience as we navigated unprecedented demand for the PS5 console amid global challenges,” Tomatis said. “If you’re looking to purchase a PS5 console, you should now have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally.”

The PS5 launched on Nov. 12, 2022, but supply chain issues have been a consistent problem. Specifically, the global semiconductor shortage made certain manufacturing components tough to come by.

Sony also released a new PS5 sizzle reel trailer to commemorate the occasion, which you can check out below.

There are little vignettes for various PlayStation games, like God of War and Horizon – though some believe one snippet is teasing another Uncharted. Right at the 43-second mark, to be exact – there you can see a young woman exploring an ancient tomb. Sony has yet to announce another Uncharted game, so who knows what this could be.
