The New England Patriots made a handful of roster moves ahead of Week 11 in preparation for their matchup against the Houston Texans.
New England signed linebacker Terez Hall to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Hall has been starting at inside linebacker instead of Ja’Whaun Bentley, who has missed the last few weeks with an injury. It’s possible that, even if Bentley returns, Hall retains the starting job.
The Patriots also activated running back Sony Michel to the 53-man roster from injured reserve in the first three games. But much like the situation at inside linebacker, Michel will be returning to a running back job which Damien Harris has won handily. It’s hard to see Michel taking the same role.
As corresponding moves, the New England released offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt, a 2019 fourth-round pick, and defensive end Derek Rivers, a 2017 third-round pick. They could clear waivers, which would make them eligible for the practice squad.
New England activated receiver Donte Moncrief to the 53-man roster from the practice squad as a COVID-19 activation. They also signed defensive lineman Akeem Spence to the practice squad.
