The Oklahoma City Thunder will have four of the top-34 picks in the upcoming 2022 NBA Draft. This includes two lottery picks with the fourth-best and 12th-best lottery odds, which means the team has a 12.5 percent chance and a 1.5 percent chance of winning the top pick. The other two picks include the 30th-overall selection from the Phoenix Suns and its own second-round pick, which is the 34th-overall selection. So all in all, the Thunder own three first-round picks and one second-round pick.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the Thunder handle having four draft picks. The team was willing to bring in four rookies in last year’s draft class, but it’s hard to envision bringing in that high of a number of rookies for the start of the 2022-23 regular season. There are always several other possibilities that do not include simply drafting a rookie and signing him to a rookie deal — such as trading a pick(s) to either move up or down the draft, trading it for a future pick, draft-and-stash, signing one of the picks to a two-way deal, etc.
The entire order of the draft will be known on May 17, when the NBA reveals the results of its Draft Lottery. The 2022 NBA Draft will be held on June 23.
