NFL players both current and former were in shock early on Friday morning upon finding out that former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas had died at the age of 33.
Per USA TODAY Sports, a spokesperson from Roswell, Georgia’s police department confirmed that Thomas had died, with an email saying that “Preliminary information is that his death stems from a medical issue, and our investigators currently have no reason to believe otherwise.”
Thomas won Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos in 2016, and also had stints with the Houston Texans, New England Patriots and New York Jets before retiring as a Bronco earlier this year.
Here’s some reaction from around the league:
The NFL family mourns the tragic loss of Demaryius Thomas and we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. pic.twitter.com/rAXYguAUy1
