Behaviour Interactive unveiled End Transmission, the latest Dead by Daylight chapter, during the horror game’s anniversary stream, and it’s full of sci-fi scares. End Transmission goes live on June 13, 2023, and adds a new map, killer, and survivor to the multiplayer game.
Gabriel Soma is the new survivor, the engineer and sole remaining member of an exploration crew who died at the hands of a monstrous AI called The Singularity. Behaviour’s goal is letting players feel like skilled technicians, so Soma’s skills and perks have a “toolbox” element to them, though the team stopped short of saying what exactly is in that toolbox.
The Singularity is End Transmission’s new killer, an AI that once served the human colony in Flarka Deepwood – before encountering alien technology and becoming “enlightened.” The Singularity wants to eliminate any inferior beings, including every human, and assimilate biological material to become the ultimate lifeform.
It spawns bio-pods around the map that stick to surfaces and let the Singularity spy on survivors in the area. These pods can also attach matter to survivors and inflict the Slipstream effect. The Singularity can instantly teleport to any Slipstreamed survivor and attack, though it’s not as one-sided as it sounds. On maps where the Singularity is the killer, you can find up to four EMP devices that instantly disable all bio-pods and remove the Slipstream effect.
Behaviour wanted the Flarka Deepwood map to feel alien and intimidating, a place where players would never feel at ease. The Deepwood is split between three areas: a human base left over from an old colonizing mission, the ruins of an ancient civilization, and a dense jungle full of alien flora and fauna.
The chapter will feature two new cosmetic showcases at launch – one each for the Singularity and Soma – and several more as the chapter progresses, including Waterfront Massacre and Twisted Mascarade.
Elsewhere in the anniversary stream, Behaviour announced a collaboration to bring Nicholas Cage to Dead by Daylight as himself.
