Ahead of the NBA’s 2023 draft, senior ESPN league analyst Adrian Wojnarowski made a very bold statement about current-day French rookie forward phenom Victor Wembanyama.
“Victor Wembanyama is the singular greatest prospect in NBA draft history,” said Woj of the future San Antonio Spurs forward and his seemingly boundless potential on a basketball court. Fast-forward close to a year into the future, and the ESPN analyst is not looking like he exaggerated one bit about Wemby’s potential. The Spurs big has morphed from a green prospect oozing as much awkwardness as he was ability, to end the Spurs’ 2023-24 campaign a legitimate Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
That is a growth curve virtually unheard of in NBA history, and was the subject of a clip put together by the folks behind the “6 Man” YouTube channel.
