Last week, I made the claim that college football’s opening weekend was the best start to a season of any sport in the United States. Looks like the college football gods rewarded me with a Week 1 for the history books.
It all started on Thursday night when the Backyard Brawl made its long-awaited return after a near-decade-long absence of relevancy outside the I-79 corridor. While not on The Napkin, West Virginia plus-7.5 cashed to start the weekend off on the right foot. That half-point came in clutch as Pittsburgh won by just seven points.
It was a sign of things to come.
Most of the games that made The Napkin were close enough that I was invested in them until the game’s late stages. Other games had me wishing I stuck to the betting rules in my original The Napkin post.
Given that Week 0 was our dress rehearsal, and Week 1 was our opening number, let’s go back and review how the first official pick of the season played out.
Here’s a recap of what my Week 1 picks looked like. All odds are provided by Tipico Sportsbook, our current official partner here at Gators Wire.
And now, let’s see how we did.
