The 49ers are one of only four franchises in the league, along with the Patriots, Steelers, and Cowboys, to have won five Super Bowls. San Francisco holds a 5-1 record all-time in Super Bowl games.
San Francisco’s last appearance in the Super Bowl came in 2013 (Super Bowl XLVII) in New Orleans against the Baltimore Ravens, which will forever be remembered for the Super Bowl blackout that interrupted the game. The Ravens took a 22-point lead following a kickoff return touchdown to start the third quarter, and held on to win 34-31.
The 49ers last won a championship at Super Bowl XXIX in 1995, defeating the Chargers 49-26 in a game where quarterback Steve Young threw six touchdown passes.
The 49ers are 2-0 in Super Bowls played in Miami, with wins over the Bengals (XXIII) and Chargers (XXIX).
