In recent days, a rash of wildfires has devastated the Hawaiian island of Maui, destroying many homes and killing more than 100 people. In particular, the one that engulfed Lahaina has been called the worst wildfire to hit the United States in more than 100 years.
The disaster has inspired many across the land to generously donate to help the surviving victims attempt to put their lives back together as much as they can.
The Los Angeles Lakers have pitched in. They, along with the 11 other pro sports teams in the Southland, are committing a large sum of money to help.
In the wake of the Maui wildfires, Los Angeles is teaming up to support those in need. The Lakers and other L.A. sports teams are committing $450,000 to aid those affected.

The Lakers organization became somewhat well known for holding training camp in Hawaii over the years, especially when the late Dr. Jerry Buss owned the team.
This is just one of many charitable acts the team has performed over the years to help those in need.
