[autotag]Dan Ige[/autotag] got his wish for a fight with [autotag]Chan Sung Jung[/autotag], and it’ll be a UFC main event.
Ige (15-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) repeatedly has called for a matchup with Jung (16-6 MMA, 6-3 UFC) – better known as “The Korean Zombie” – for more than a year. Now it’s happening. The featherweight fight will headline the UFC’s “Fight Night” event June 19.
MMA Junkie verified the matchup has been agreed to by both sides, but not yet signed, with multiple people close to the booking following an initial report from UFC broadcast partner ESPN. The people requested anonymity because the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.
The event does not have an announced location or venue, and broadcast plans haven’t been revealed.

Jung, No. 11 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie featherweight rankings, hasn’t fought since a lopsided unanimous decision loss to Brian Ortega in a title eliminator at UFC Fight Night 180 in October. The result snapped a two-fight winning steak for the 34-year-old.
No. 10-ranked Ige will attempt to build on his 7-1 run in his past eight fights. He’s fresh off a 22-second knockout of Gavin Tucker at UFC Fight Night 187 in March, which put him back on track after losing his first UFC headliner against Calvin Kattar in July 2020.
Ige specifically called out Jung after his win over Tucker, and now it’s happening.
With the addition, the UFC’s June 19 lineup now includes:
- Chan Sung Jung vs. Dan Ige
- Matt Brown vs. Dhiego Lima
- Virna Jandiroba vs. Kanako Murata
- Roque Martinez vs. Josh Parisian
- Bruno Silva vs. Wellington Turman
- Julian Erosa vs. Seungwoo Choi
- Casey O’Neill vs. Lara Procopio
- Tyson Nam vs. Tagir Ulanbekov
