A quality and experience left tackle is important to the success of any quarterback, but especially a new quarterback. Kentucky football has a starting left tackle that is both for the 2024 season in Marques Cox.
As a prospect, Cox was rated three stars by 247sports in the 2018 recruiting class. He had offers from Indiana and Iowa State, but ultimately chose Northern Illinois, where he spent 2018 through 2022.

In 2023, Cox decided to transfer to Kentucky and immediately became a starter. He started all 13 games last season, and then decided to return to Lexington for the 2024 season as well, his final season of eligibility.
Cox was a very good player last year, and with a new quarterback and new running backs, having him back out at left tackle is big. The 6’5″, 310 lb blindside protector has amassed a ton of starts, and has loads of valuable experience. He’s a leader, and provides stability for a Kentucky team looking to be even better next year.
