The Jets opened a 21-day practice window for Aaron Rodgers and NFL fans didn’t know what to think

Is Aaron Rodgers coming back or are the Jets just keeping their slim hopes alive???

After teasing he’d only come back to the New York Jets if they were in legitimate playoff contention, Aaron Rodgers might have seen a significant step forward in his (unlikely) return on Wednesday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets opened up a 21-day practice window for the quarterback as he continues recovering from an Achilles tear. In effect, if the Jets want Rodgers to come back in 2023, this was their only option. It doesn’t necessarily guarantee he’ll return, and he has to be cleared to play by the end of the window, or his season is (mercifully) over. Given that the 15th-place Jets play the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, and Miami Dolphins over the next three weeks, it’s hard to see Rodgers’ return actually coming to fruition.

So, in case you were wondering, he essentially has three weeks of attention he can milk from this situation. I’m sure that just breaks him up:

We’ll see whether Rodgers suits up for the Jets again. All current odds and the team’s general on-field predicament say it likely won’t happen. But (sigh) I suppose crazier things have happened.
