Normally, when a sports team rebrands itself, that team usually lets you know all about it.
Y’all know what I’m talking about. There’s lots of tweets and social posts and other annoying very cool social media content surrounding it. It happens every time we get new jerseys, new logos and all of that.
But, uh, the Rockets kind of just did the thing, maybe? And no one seemed to really know about it either.
At some point over the last few days, the Houston Rockets changed the team’s logo on the team’s Twitter account. That’s it. just the Twitter account. The Facebook account is the same. The Instagram account is an NBA Paint image.
Here’s a look.

That’s…different. That’s probably the best way I can think of to describe this at this point.
It cannot be overlooked that, just days after NBA Paint roasts the Rockets’ logo, the team switches it up like this.

And look. It’s not that this new logo — or whatever it is — is bad. It…might actually be pretty good? For all of you youngins out there, it’s a riff on the team’s old logo from 1995 to 2003. That’s a solid look.
But we can’t judge this thing because we don’t know what it is. Mostly because the team hasn’t said anything about it! This was the Rockets’ last tweet.
It’s Wednesday! You already know what that means.

As badly as I’d like an Amen Thompson lock screen, I desperately would love to know what in the world is going on with this logo.
Lots of fans are with me, too. The vibes on this one seem mixed. Some people love it. Some people hate it. But no one knows what’s going on.
