The eleven thinnest rosters in the NFL

Depth, or a lack thereof, might mean more in the 2020 NFL season given COVID-19. What teams face questions about roster depth?

5. New York Jets

This one could change in a hurry, and not for the better if you are a New York Jets fan.

I will fight the urge to rail on management. I will fight the urge to highlight how Jamal Adams is one of the prototypes for the modern NFL hybrid defender. I will fight the urge to illustrate how Adams poses a problem for opposing offenses. I will fight the urge to argue how the Jets would be out of their ever-loving minds to move on from him. But I will say that this roster would take a massive hit if they do just that…

The Jets made some moves this offseason to help their young quarterback, such as adding massive rookie tackle Mekhi Becton in the first round, adding depth on the offensive line with Greg van Roten, George Fant and Connor McGovern in free agency, and adding vertical threat Denzel Mims in the draft along with Breshad Perriman in free agency. That gives New York depth at both offensive line and wide receiver, two big positions of need for them.

But questions abound on defense, beyond the issue of Adams’ position with the team. Can Quinnen Williams live up to his draft hype? Whither the linebackers outside of C.J. Mosley? What about this secondary, specifically the cornerback group? These are issues that go beyond the Adams situation.

Speaking of which…

…no, I promised I wouldn’t harp on it too much.
