The Miami Dolphins’ “surge” this season featured close losses to good football teams in October and even a few wins in November. But the party is over — Miami has lost in each of the last two weeks by 17 points apiece, failing to look the part of the scrappy spoiler they seemed destined to be last this season. Injuries have taken their toll on the Dolphins secondary and undoubtedly play a part in the Dolphins’ stalled momentum.
Things won’t get any better in Week 13 against the Philadelphia Eagles, either. The Eagles are much like the Browns: a much more talented team who has struggled with execution and discipline but have a ticket to the postseason looming on the horizon anyway. It must be nice. The Eagles are 5-6 and sit outside the NFC East lead by one game. Take care of business from here out and the Eagles are in.
That means that the Dolphins are going to be getting a focused Eagles team.
The sports books reflect such a dire situation for the Dolphins. Miami currently sits as 7.5 point underdogs for Week 13, according to BetMGM.
These Dolphins are a very different group than the team that played Philadelphia back in 2015, a game won by Miami at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia by a score of 20-19. Don’t expect that prior success to yield any confidence for the Dolphins of 2019, Miami will have to find that on their own this week. The bettors don’t think they’ll find any — which is probably rightfully so.
