The Dallas Cowboys lost to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on a rainy Sunday in Foxborough but you have to wonder what might have happened if the refs didn’t make such a terrible call against the Cowboys in such a crucial moment.
The Cowboys converted a third-and-one on what was basically their final drive of the game. But then a yellow flag came flying out and the refs announced that Cowboys center Travis Frederick was being flagged for tripping.
The penalty pushed Dallas back to third-and-11 and two plays later they turned the ball over on downs, which all but sealed the win for the Patriots.
Check out this terrible call:
This is the exact opposite of a tripping. He moved out of the way to avoid tripping the defender. This BS has to stop. Please NFL. Stop this. pic.twitter.com/J8Lt0RBKls

Yeah, that’s not tripping and it’s not a great look for the refs, who have had an awful year in general this season.
Twitter couldn’t believe it:
They called tripping on that? In this spot? In this game? Disgraceful. #Cowboys #Patriots

That tripping call was positively horrific. Cowboys have a very, very legit beef.

I hate the Cowboys but that was a trash ass tripping call and it cost the Cowboys that drive.

Going into this game there had been 5 accepted tripping penalties all season, in the ENTIRE NFL.
The Cowboys got two today, both erased massive conversions and neither was even close to tripping.— Tim Roberts (@21stCenturyTim) November 25, 2019
I’ve never been called for tripping in a game and have only witnessed it once or twice in my entire career, but the Cowboys get 2 called against them in the same game in crucial situations?! I call BS. pic.twitter.com/xpS673l95Q

The Cowboys have been called for tripping twice today. Neither was a good call. Just awful officiating.

That tripping call lost the Cowboys the game change my mind

Cowboys get a first down and the refs pull a BS tripping call out of nowhere. Absolutely disgusting

Referee: What’s the most non-reviewable, judgement-call that we can flag the Cowboys for today?
Umpire: ……..Tripping!
Referee: I like it!
