If you’re one of those college football fans that wanted a legitimate playoffs that looks like the postseason you see in professional sports, you got your wish.
Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the College Football Playoff Board of Managers voted Friday in a meeting to expand the postseason to a 12-team format, which is “expected to start in 2026.”
The thing I saw the most as both pro- and anti-playoffs fans argued on Twitter was one common thread: Notre Dame jokes. Any talk of the independent football program joining a conference was probably extinguished, because their chances of making the postseason are likely better with more spots available:
