The College Football Playoff quarterfinal results show that Notre Dame could jump out to an early lead vs. Georgia

We’d all like to see this

Notre Dame will take on the Georgia Bulldogs this afternoon, and as the final game of the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff, there is some data that looks to be advantageous for the Irish.

The first three games of the quarters have seen the team that played in the first-round take early leads, and finish off their opponent who had a bye. On Tuesday, it was Penn State jumping out to a 17-7 halftime lead over Boise State, ultimately ending in a 31-14 Nittany Lions victory.

In the first game on New Year’s Day, Texas led 17-3 at halftime, but it got a bit dicier for the Longhorns as the game went by. Arizona State forced the game to go into overtime, but in the end, Texas still prevailed 39-31 in two overtime’s.

Ohio State took a 34-8 lead into the break over Oregon in the Rose Bowl, as they cruised to a 41-21 win over the top ranked team in the CFP.

If this trend of the teams having bye’s struggle out of the game, and eventually take a loss, this could be very beneficial for Notre Dame as it faces the Bulldogs later today.

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (4) celebrates a first down catch during the second half of the College Football Playoff quarterfinal against the Oregon Ducks at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. on Jan. 1, 2025. Ohio State won 41-21.
