[autotag]Hagen Smith[/autotag] had one of the best outings of his young career last Friday in a shutout win over rival LSU.
In 7.1 innings of work, the freshman left-hander struck out seven batters, allowed two hits, and issued one walk, all tying career-best records in the 4-0 win over the Tigers from Red Stick, setting up the opportunity for Arkansas to win their fourth SEC series of the season.
A prestigious organization took note of the work that Smith put in and has elected to recognize his performance. The College Baseball Foundation has named Smith the National Pitcher of the Week.

Earlier in the week, Smith was recognized as SEC Freshman of the Week following the amazing performance last Friday.
Currently, Smith is 6-2 with a 3.88 ERA, has issued 21 walks and has allowed 21 earned runs while striking out 52 batters in 48.2 IP. Smith is scheduled to pitch again in game two of the weekend series at Texas A&M on Saturday. First pitch from College Station is slated for 2 p.m. CT.
