The business of the NBA is healthy, and as a result, the salary cap for a second consecutive season is projected to increase 10% to $133 million in 2023-24. The rise in the cap is a $24 million increase from the 2020-21 season, the first full year the league was impacted severely by financial losses because of COVID-19. Because of the significant increase, ESPN projects 13 teams to have cap space next offseason. In comparison, a combined nine teams had spending power over the past two offseasons.
