Self-inflicted wounds were the order of the day for Kentucky football on Saturday. As good as they looked in upsetting Ole Miss, they were the opposite against Vanderbilt, with mistakes in every phase of the game, resulting in a 20 – 13 loss.
Perhaps no sequence summed up the day better than what happened inside the five yard line late in the third quarter. The Wildcats lined up with second and goal at the 1, and appeared to score, but a false start negated the play. On 2nd and goal from the six, a Brock Vandagriff run gained just one yard. Then on third down, Vandagriff threw it out of the back of the endzone. The field goal attempt failed when the snap was fumbled.

There were errors throughout the game, however. Penalties marred the game, especially early on. Dane Key fumbled in Vanderbilt territory. Demie Sumo-Karngbaye dropped an easy pass that stopped the clock and helped the Commodores score before the half. The list goes on.
A picture is worth a thousand words, or so they say. If that’s the case, then here is a whole lot more about the game, told through the best pictures of the action.
