The term “adventure game” is deliberately vague, because you can apply it to just about any game if you try hard enough. Whether you’re slaying dragons in a fantasy land or exploring a haunted house, you can certainly call that an adventure. As such, the term means different things to different people. Some would say that only the classic point-and-click adventures are true “adventure games”, while others would have it branch out to include almost everything from Persona 5 to Euro Truck Simulator.
We’ve decided to define the best adventure games as something that absorbs you fully into its world and/or characters. Be that to tell you a compelling story, or just show you something unforgettable.
