Texas Recruiting Target: Byron Murphy II decommits from Baylor

DeSoto defensive tackle Byron Murphy II recently decommitted from Baylor, can the Texas Longhorns staff flip the in-state product?

As the early signing day approaches next month, the recruiting trail is heating up. The Texas Longhorns are currently ranked the No. 17 team in the 2021 247Sports composite rankings currently.

Recently Chris Ash and the defensive staff picked up a commitment from linebacker Terrence Cooks out of Shadow Creek. The same school that produced Xavion Alford in the 2020 cycle. The Longhorns have been trying to improve the defensive side of the ball but have yet to secure a defensive tackle prospect.

Shemar Turner of DeSoto, Texas is a defense end that the Longhorns have been targeting. Recently it seems like he may go with Texas A&M. He did name the Longhorns among his top five back in June. Now the Longhorns could be close to securing his teammate Byron Murphy II. The defensive tackle recently decommitted from Baylor.
