After being viewed as a Texas lock dating back to 2021, there has been a major shift in the recruitment of five-star running back Rueben Owens.
Ranked as the nation’s best running back, Owens has a ton of major programs vying for his services and has definitely flirted with the idea of going to a handful of different ones. However, a recent 247Sports crystal ball prediction was inserted on Friday that opposes the previous predictions.
Prior to Friday, Owens held a total of six predictions with five of them in favor of Texas with the other one being from 2020 that predicted him to go to Oklahoma.
All of these predictions seem to be void now, as 247Sports’ Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong predicted Owens to commit Texas A&M. Wiltfong typically doesn’t insert a prediction unless there is a commitment approaching, or if it isn’t approaching, he received intel on where the player stands.
Owens’ recruitment has been an interesting one, as he flirted with being a package deal with Arch Manning and is someone who is certainly enjoying the recruiting process.
The Aggies seem to be continuing their hot streak on the recruiting trail, but nonetheless the Longhorns are currently loaded at the running back position so while this loss would hurt, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
