Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young is returning to work at the place where he played his college football.
Young confirmed on Twitter on Monday that he’ll be returning to Texas, and the Associated Press (via ESPN) revealed he’ll work as a special assistant in the Longhorns’ athletic department.
“I see everyone is hearing the news that CDC (Athletic director Chris Del Conte) has me working for our Longhorns,” Young said. “So happy to be able to help him out as well as everyone in the Athletic Department, share my knowledge and experiences, reach out in the community and serve the school I love! You know I Bleed Orange!”
This is great news for Young, who had battled alcohol issues in the past and did a stint in rehab “to hit the reset button,” as he revealed back in 2019. He previously held the role of development officer before getting fired in 2019.
Young became a legend during his days with Texas, as he quarterbacked the team that won the 2005 National Championship against the USC Trojans.
After a successful college career, Young was drafted by the Titans with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft. He played with Tennessee for five seasons before having a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles.
