Texas Football: Wishlist for future nonconference opponents

Nothing gets DKR hyped quite like a nonconference matchup. Here is a wishlist to Chris Del Conte for future nonconference opponents.

Nebraska

Most Nebraska fans are still not over the 2009 Big 12 championship game. If you ask them, there was not a second left on the clock and Hunter Lawrence should have never had the opportunity to nail the 46-yard game-winning field goal. Sadly (for them), that is what happened and a sour taste is still in Husker fan’s mouths.

By 2011, Nebraska had moved to the Big Ten and have not played Texas in over a decade. The two may not share a historic rivalry but when two iconic programs match up against each other, it’s special. Both sets of fans would make the environments unbelievable, especially in Lincoln.

Renewing old rivalries is nothing new to the Huskers of late. Former Big 8 arch-rival Colorado got a home and home series in 2018 and 2019, with another on the books for 2023 and 2024.

Oklahoma will renew their old Thanksgiving day rivalry with Nebraska over the next two seasons, while Oklahoma State has future dates as well. It would be cool to see Texas and Nebraska on the same field once again.
