Texas Football: The Quinn Ewers vs Arch Manning debate

Texas is going after two of the most highly touted QBs in the country: Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. Here is a breakdown of the debate.

So, who do you take?

Both Ewers and Manning will change the direction of the Texas program. From that perspective, it is difficult to choose one. You are either getting the No. 1 or No. 3 player in their respective class.

What an awful situation to be in.

Right now, Ewers slightly gets the nod due to his classification. Getting an elite quarterback on campus quicker pushes him over the finish line. Plus, the story of a lifelong Longhorn fan being the starter can live on for the television networks.

Do not expect complaints if Manning ends up being the guy though.

If you land neither: A very real possibility.

Then Sarkisian still has more work to do regarding recruiting a quarterback. Maalik Murphy is hanging in the balance but is seen more as a project. Two or three years may go by before the California native is prepared to take the field.

All but three of the top 25 ranked quarterbacks in the 2022 class are committed. Cade Klubnik or Conner Weigmen were thought to be the next guys up after Ewers decommitted. Austin native Klubnik opted for Dabo Swinney and Clemson, while Weigman will play football and baseball for Texas A&M.

For the 2023 cycle, there is still time for prospects to prove themselves. The state of Texas continually produces top-level signal-callers. No immediate answer will come but one will emerge.
