It feels like beating a dead horse when discussing how poor Texas’ offensive line class was during the 2021 cycle. Tom Herman and Herb Hand whiffed on all of their top targets, including the Brockermeyer twins, who Kyle Flood pulled to Tuscaloosa. Now, he is going to be attempting to pull the top in-state offensive lineman for the Longhorns and it all begins with Devon Campbell.

Texas has long been seen as the favorites in his recruitment but other schools have been able to sneak in. Oklahoma and a plethora of SEC schools are trying to get the elite offensive guard prospect to consider other options. In the latest round of 247Sports crystal balls, predictions were given in favor of the Longhorns. However, the longer Campbell remains available, the worse Texas’ position gets.

Campbell is listed at 6-foot-4, 295 pounds. More size and strength will be added once he arrives on campus. The offensive lineman loves to punish defenders to the ground and find somebody else to pancake immediately after. The potential to play tackle is there, but his frame will see him as an elite guard at the next level. Another can’t miss product who is sitting in the Longhorns’ backyard and needs to wear burnt orange.
