Texas’ 2021 recruiting class ended the first day of the early signing period as strong as they could have hoped at this point.
According to 247Sports, the Longhorns have a top 20 recruiting class in the nation at No. 17 overall.
The class ended up a bit lower than expected when you take into consideration that Texas swung and missed on offensive lineman Tommy Brockermeyer, the No. 1 player in the state of Texas. Losing Tommy also meant losing his brother James, the No. 1 center in the country.
Alabama landed the Brockermeyer twins as well as quarterback Jalen Milroe, the No. 4 dual threat quarterback in the country whom Texas once had a verbal commitment from. There’s unfortunately more to add, but despite the losses, the Longhorns managed to still land a top 20 class in the nation amidst the heated coaching rumors.
There’s a large deal of uncertainty surrounding the future of head coach Tom Herman — despite to vote of confidence from athletic director Chris Del Conte — which has to be taken into consideration for these young recruits.
