Nine Longhorns are taking home 2022 All-Big 12 honors.
Ivan Melendez, Pete Hansen, Murphy Stehly and Silas Ardoin were named first-team all-conference selections. Lucas Gordon, Trey Faltine and Skyler Messinger made the second team. Douglas Hodo and Austin Todd snagged honorable mention honors.
Melendez turned in one of the greatest seasons in Texas baseball history. He leads the Big 12 in pretty much every single offensive category. Melendez was named Big 12 Player of the Year and should be the front-runner for National Player of the Year.
Hansen joined Melendez as the only unanimous selections on the team. The Longhorns ace holds a 3.28 ERA and a 9-1 season record. Hansen held opposing hitters to a slim .216 batting average.
Ardoin took a huge jump at the plate this season. He hit .287 flashing his power with 10 home runs and 45 RBI. Ardoin is also one of the better defensive catchers in the nation.
Stehly enjoyed a breakout season hitting .383 with 16 home runs and 51 RBI. He leads the Big 12 in hits with 87 and found himself playing excellent defense all over the field.
Gordon was vaulted into the weekend rotation after the injury to Tanner Witt and stepped up in a major way. The lefty is 6-1 with a 2.55 ERA, Texas won seven of eight games Gordon started in Big 12 play.
Faltine and Messinger held down the left side of the infield for the Longhorns. Both displayed phenomenal defense along with impressive seasons at the plate.
Texas will begin postseason play in the Big 12 tournament against Oklahoma State on Wednesday morning.
