Melendez hit his fourth straight home-run in game one, but it was Mike Antico who had the hottest bat of the game, hitting four out of five at-bats with five RBI’s.
The score stayed relatively close for much of the game. With Kansas State leading 6-5 halfway through the eighth inning, the Longhorns exploded with an eight-run inning headlined by a Mike Antico double which would bring home all three men on base, giving the Longhorns a 13-6 lead and the win.
