Texas A&M has secured its first commitment from the transfer portal. Veteran quarterback Jacob Zeno spent two seasons at UAB after three seasons at Baylor.
Head coach Mike Elko and OC Collin Klein should feel good about securing another reliable arm in one of the youngest QB rooms in the country, mainly concerning redshirt freshman Marcel Reed’s development after his first season as the partial starter.
However, Reed or Zeno need more weapons in the passing game. Elko has already hosted or scheduled several key visits from the top-ranked wide receivers in the portal, including former Oklahoma wide receiver Nic Anderson, a surprise addition earlier in the week.
Anderson’s 2024 season with the Sooners was cut short due to a quadriceps injury, but his 2023 season has nearly every team in the country fighting for his commitment this month. At an impressive 6′ 4″ and 220 pounds, Anderson recorded 38 receptions, 798 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns during his freshman campaign, looking like the next CeeDee Lamb.
A Katy, Texas native, TexAgs’ Ryan Brauninger, reported that Anderson will visit Texas A&M sometime this week, joining former Texas Tech WR Micah Hudson and former North Carolina State WR Kevin Concepcion. However, the latter has yet to be confirmed.
News: Transfer WR Nic Anderson is expected to visit Texas A&M at the end of this week.
