As the SEC prepares to make a run for its sixth College Football Championship, there will be no shortage of action in what has become college football’s most dominant conference.
Georgia, of course, is on its quest for its third straight national title, while Nick Saban and Alabama will look to punch their ticket back into playoff contention. The LSU Tigers, in year two with Brian Kelly, will be motivated to contend for a conference title after winning the SEC West in 2022. And then there’s the Texas A&M Aggies, who have the talent and motivation to piece together an emphatic dark-horse campaign and make some noise in the conference.
All those narratives lead to what should be an exciting season of SEC football with a plethora of must-watch matchups. Over at Saturday Down South, the outlet ranked their top 10 games to watch this season, with the showdown between Texas A&M and Alabama clocking in at the No. 4 overall spot in the rankings.

The Aggies last went head-to-head with the Crimson Tide in Week 5 of last season, which resulted in a 24-20 loss at Tuscaloosa. The Maroon and White hold a 3-12 record against Alabama overall in their school history. However, an upset special could be brewing the next time these two meet.
Kyle Field has been home to several historic upsets, and the Crimson Tide know the feeling all too well. The last time these two programs faced off in College Station, the Aggies came away with a 41-38 win to snap an eight-game losing skid against the Crimson Tide.
It’s no secret that the hostile environment of Kyle Field, led by a raucous and devoted 12th Man, makes it among the most daunting places for opponents to play in the SEC. A trio of Crimson Tide football players recently echoed the same sentiments during this year’s SEC media days. With that in mind, it’s no question why this matchup is among the best on the SEC slate in 2023.
Texas A&M will face Alabama on Saturday, October 7, from Kyle Field in Bryan-College Station. The matchup will mark the Aggies’ third game of SEC play after facing Auburn and Arkansas in the two games prior.
