Texas A&M tied atop the SEC standings after Week 12

Here are the latest SEC standings after Week 12

Texas A&M (8-2, 5-1 SEC) took care of business on Saturday night against New Mexico State, defeating the road Aggies 38-3 behind QB Marcel Reed and sophomore tight end Theo Melin Öhrström’s career-high 111 receiving yards.

The Aggies dominated the, yes, Aggies from start to finish, mounting a 24-0 lead in the first half before defensive adjustments slowed down A&M’s passing attack.

Defensively, head coach Mike Elko received a clear message from defensive lineman Malick Sylla, who recorded two sacks and three tackles for loss in his second appearance this season. The junior should continue to see the field over the next two weeks.

Before facing Auburn on the road next Saturday night, Texas A&M is tied with the Texas Longhorns, who defeated Arkansas 20-10 on Saturday afternoon, atop the SEC standings. At the same time, Georgia’s big win over Tennessee has pushed the Vols down the standings and out of the running for the SEC Championship.
