Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman will start vs. Missouri

The redshirt sophomore is back in the starting lineup vs. Missouri

It has been confirmed by Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko that redshirt sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman will start vs. Missouri, which is his first appearance as the Aggies’ starting signal caller since A&M’s Week 2 win over McNeese.

This week, Weigman made his way back to practice amid his right shoulder injury, as his rehab over the past month has led to the redshirt sophomore looking more comfortable as a thrower. In his absense, redshirt freshman quarterback Marcel Reed has started the last three games, earning perfect 3-0 record, but has struggled with accuracy in the pocket.

Elko’s strategic communication plan regarding the change at quarterback won’t exactly give the Aggies an edge per say, as Weigman’s lack of play time, especially in SEC play this season could produce a rusty performance if he isn’t fully reacclimated to working through his progressions at a quick rate.

Notheless, Elko and his staff hope that Weigman’s arm talent and toughness leads the way againts the 9th-ranked Missouri Tigers.

Texas A&M will host Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11:00 a.m. CT. The game will air on ABC and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
