Texas A&M projected as a top-five seed in ESPN’s early 2024 Bracketology

After Texas A&M’s turnaround resulted in a March Madness appearance last season, ESPN’s early bracketology projects them as a top-five seed for the 2024 tournament.

The Maroon and White put the SEC on notice with their superb turnaround season in 2022, and their perseverance is beginning to have an effect when it comes to expectations moving forward.

In ESPN’s very early 2024 NCAA Tournament bracketology, Joe Lunardi’s latest update (as of May 9) has Texas A&M as a 4-seed in the South Region. The Aggies would face a projected 13-seed in Furman.

The Maroon and White would be one of seven SEC programs to reach the 2024 NCAA Tournament, according to the latest bracketology, with only the Big Ten (8) and Big 12 (8) sending more. While the committee severely disrespected the Aggies by seeding them No. 7 in last year’s March Madness, it’s encouraging to see Texas A&M getting the respect it deserves heading into next season.

After a 25-10 season (15-3 SEC) in 2022, the Aggies are looking to build off of its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018. Though A&M fell in the first round to Penn State, Buzz Williams’ roster will see the return of much of their starting five, led by first-team All-SEC guard Wade Taylor IV.

The Aggies have also bolstered their roster via the transfer portal, adding depth in the backcourt in the form of guard Eli Lawrence, and shooting guard Jace Carter,

The returning roster of talent, coupled with ample experience in Williams’ system, is a big factor as to why A&M has been a consensus addition to many way-too-early top-25 basketball rankings heading into next season.

While the selection committee and Texas A&M (namely Buzz Williams) have had a contentious relationship over the last two years, it’s safe to say that so long as the Aggies build off their winning habits from last season they will surely make a reappearance come tournament season.

With Lunardi projecting them as an early 4-seed, it’s clear the sky is the limit when it comes to what is brewing in College Station.
