Texas A&M offers former Louisiana CB Trey Amos

Texas A&M has fielded an offer to highly productive former Louisiana cornerback, Trey Amos

Texas A&M isn’t finished adding to their defensive back group by any means, already adding three productive cornerbacks from the transfer portal in Tony Grimes, Sam McCall, and Josh DeBerry, who will each either start or regularly rotate into the lineup throughout the upcoming 2023 season. With nearly 1,000 players currently in the portal, plenty of options still exist for head coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff.

With a continued focus on experience rather than raw talent, Fisher has now offered former Louisiana cornerback Trey Amos, who in three seasons with the Ragin’ Cajuns, accumulated 60 tackles, 13 pass deflections, and 1 interception. So far, the Aggies join Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ole Miss, and Miami in offering the Louisiana native, who is looking to make an instant impact in the defensive backfield once he chooses a program.

So, do the Aggies have the edge in earning Amos’s commitment? Even with the additions of Grimes, McCall, and DeBerry, depth is still an issue, and while incoming freshmen cornerbacks Bravion Rodgers and Jayvon Thomas could provide an instant spark if called upon, their youth and inexperience could also result in blow coverages and simple mistakes.
