During Coach Mike Elko’s first season, Texas A&M’s 2024 wide receiver roster fell short, mainly because of insufficient offseason additions and OC Collin Klein’s new scheme. Nevertheless, there is hope for improvement ahead.
This offseason, Elko and his staff have hit the ground running, focused on adding depth at nearly every position group, especially at wide receiver, leading to gaining three WR additions, including KC Concepcion (NC State), Micah Hudson (Texas Tech) and Mario Craver (Mississippi State) over the last month.
However, after junior wide receiver Noah Thomas entered the transfer portal and eventually transferred to Georgia for the 2025 season, the Aggies needed to add one more trustworthy receiving option. This led to Tuesday’s news that former Houston wide receiver Jonah Wilson is headed to College Station this spring.
Wilson recorded 11 receptions, 118 receiving yards, and one touchdown with the Cougars over the past two seasons. Despite his insufficient playing time, the former four-star wide receiver is a talented route runner with game-breaking speed.
Coming out of Dekaney HS in Houston (TX), Wilson nearly committed to the Texas Longhorns before landing with the Cougars.
On paper, Wilson is a depth piece with an upside and helps place a bandage over losing Noah Thomas at a premium position.
Houston wide receiver transfer Jonah Wilson is expected to transfer to Texas A&M, @mzenitz and I have learned for @247Sports.
