Texas A&M’s 2024 season ended at a disappointing 8-4 and 5-3 in SEC play after losing three out of their last four games, including the season finale 17-7 loss to rival Texas in the revival of the Lone Star Showdown.
Amid head coach Mike Elko’s first season, plenty of issues, including the playcalling of OC Collin Klein, led to the underwhelming finish, but so did the lack of offensive playmakers and lack of depth at running back after star RB Le’Veon Moss was lost for the season.
However, with Early Signing Day set to begin on Wednesday, Elko and his staff are on fire recruiting-wise. They have landed three commitment flips, including former Missouri commits, led by five-star OL Lamont Rogers and four-star athlete/running back Jamarion Morrow.
However, three players have entered the transfer portal since Monday, including junior wide receiver Cyrus Allen, who transferred to Texas A&M after two seasons at Louisiana Tech.
One of the toughest players on the roster, Allen finished fourth in receiving with 18 receptions and 269 yards through the air before his 2024 season ended after sustaining an elbow injury.
While Allen’s departure certainly hurts from a depth perspective, I expect Elko and his staff to add two or more wide receivers from the transfer portal in the coming months.
Texas A&M starting wide receiver Cyrus Allen is entering the NCAA transfer portal, he told ESPN. @cyrusallen_ has one year of eligibility remaining. He’s caught 18 passes for 269 yards at A&M. He caught 46 passes for 778 yards at Louisiana Tech in 2023. pic.twitter.com/V5YASyxD6h
